Dan Gregory's DOs & DON'Ts of grooming

Dan Gregory, one of the UK's leading grooming experts shares
his top tips for properly maintaining a beard.

1
Comb your beard in the direction it grows in. This will help maintain its shape and help to get rid of any dry skin.
2
If you have stubble and you want to keep it neat and tidy, shape your beard just above the Adam's apple in an upside-down semi-circle, which will straighten out when you are looking straight on.
3
Use the Wilkinson Sword Hydro Precision Transparent Gel to shape your beard. The great thing is that it's see-through so you can see where you are shaving, while still making sure you are protecting and nourishing the skin at the same time.
4
Keep on top of your facial hair by shaping it every other day. This will keep you looking sharp, and maintain the consistency of your beard.
1
When shaping your beard, make sure you don't shape it too much on the cheeks, as this can create a lot more maintenance for your morning routine.
2
If you are just tidying up a longer beard with a trimmer, don't shave against the hair growth, shave with it. This will just take off the unruly hairs.
3
Don't rush when either trimming or shaving. Any design will take some time to perfect. Whether it's a goatee or just a bit of hair under your bottom lip, to get it right will take that little bit longer than being clean shaven.
4
Don't skip after-care. Remember to use an aftershave balm, even if you have only shaved on your cheeks and neck. Use the Wilkinson Sword Hydro AfterShave Balm – it's light, non-greasy and absorbs quickly into the skin and importantly won't leave residue in your beard.
